Deva Premal's album Deva begins with the Seven Chakra Gayatri Mantra and calls on us to shed the chattering mind, the heaviness of the heart, and the many distractions of life, and instead seek for that eternal place for refuge and deep relaxation within ourselves.

Deva Premal's wonderful voice leads into stages of deep meditation and acts as a portal to inner peace. With the second version of the Seven Chakra Gayatri Mantra – the ingenious mix of Prabhu – at the end of the CD, a complete cycle of this mystical-musical journey emerges.

Elevating mantra chants along with her partner Miten, in alternation with soothing melodic lines of Nepalese bansuri master Manose, create an uplifting musical landscape based on the sensually-rhythmic instrumentation of producer Joby Baker.
Another highlight: in the devout piece Prabhujee by Ravi Shankar his daughter Anoushka Shankar can be heard on the sitar!
