In myths from ancient times, the Amalaki fruit (also known as Amla, botanical name Emblica officinalis) is regarded as "fruit of youth" and as great energy supplier. The Amla tree is small to medium in size and grows in wild form in indian forests, but is also cultivated in gardens, courtyards or streets.

Thanks to its diverse effects, the Amla fruit enjoys an extremely high priority in Ayurvedic teachings. The Amla fruit contains vitamin C and gallotannins. It is a fruit with particularly high vitamin C content: 100 g of fresh Amalaki fruit contain about 600 to 921 mg of vitamin C. Processed and dried, the vitamin C content normally decreases drastically. Traditionally, the fruit is boiled in order to separate the pulp from the kernel, and then dried in the sun. The powder produced from this is usually dark brown to black. Because of the specially gentle processing of the Amla fruit powder by Classic Ayurveda - the fruits are mechanically separated from the kernel and then dried at low temperatures - Amalaki Daily-C still contains substantial components of high quality vitamin C, bound into tannins. For the complex manufacturing process, only Amla fruits of particularly high quality are being used. The powder of these fruits is white to light yellowish. It has an extremely high ORAC value (antioxidant potential).

A new laboratory study of the LEFO food research institute in Ahrensburg (near Hamburg) recently confirmed the antioxidant properties of the Classic Ayurveda Amla fruit powder. The specially prepared Amla fruit powder contains 165,000 pmol TE/100 g ORAC units. This powder provides the basis for the capsules of Amalaki Daily-C. What is the ORAC value
Modern science has defined a measurable value to specify the antioxidant properties of a plant, called ORAC value.
